This isn't my main location but I've stopped in from time to time over the past year or so when I'm in too big of a hurry to go to a more decent location.
Every time I walk in, I'm blasted with the smell of urine. The moment you walk in the door, you can smell it. To be fair, it might not actually be urine but smells just like it.
The free weight area is tiny. There are people standing in the most awkward places to do arm curls or what have you. And the weight area always looks like a prison yard. It's just what this location attracts.
Today I had the pleasure of seeing (and smelling) a homeless guy walk into the locker room. He was dragging a hand cart with all his possessions strapped to it. He was there to take a shower. Kept staring at me too. Real nice.
The parking lot sort of screams break-in-lottery. Will today be your day? It's cramped too.
The cardio area is fine. I guess the neighborhood homies aren't into cardio. The staff is friendly.
The root of the problems here are simply the location. It's the semi-hood. Anyone that says Arcadia is up and coming is delusional. A few renovated places here and there, surrounded by the hood. Are there worse areas in Phoenix? Sure. But so what?
If you have a black membership, I'd recommend driving a little further to a different location. I won't be returning.
