  • Visiting Butterfly Wonderland was never on my "to see" list. I LOVE butterflies, but I have been to some really good butterfly gardens in my life. When my sister came to town this last time, she wanted to go. So we went! I will start with the bad, and end on good... Bad - It's expensive. We both got student discounts and our tickets were over $20. The place is mostly a large greenhouse. Could be bad - The first stop is a movie, when the movie is over the whole theater goes to the Emergence Gallery (where you can see butterfly emerge from their cocoon). Then the whole theater group goes into the Conservatory. There were about 12 in our movie viewing so everyone had a chance to look into the emergence cases and we had plenty of personal space. I can anticipate problems with crowds if the movie is even at a quarter of capacity. The good - The staff was very nice. The Conservatory is beautiful! The butterflies are so active! We got a lot of great pictures.
