| - Know standard retail pricing before you walk in. You can get a good deal here but expect to haggle, even if they say it's the final price. When push comes to shove, they can, and will, lower their price...
I bought a washer/dryer set with minor dings. It's supposed to be a commercial set and sturdier. When I got home I googled the washer/dryer to read some reviews and found out the same items were on sale that weekend -- new -- at both Home Depot and Lowe's, for less. Of course, I was upset. I could've bought the same sets online without having to even drive to a store and, for less.
So, I called Sear's Outlet back and told them Home Depot had the same new, non-dinged appliances *for less* in stock, that same day. Suddenly, Sears' "firm" price was lowered and I was also given a deal on extended warranty. So, I ended up pretty happy with the sale, but only after I realized this "outlet" had higher prices than Home Depot's first quality appliances.
Although they don't let on, you can haggle here like you were at the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul and get a better deal. And they should. These are often floor models that have cosmetic flaws. Make sure you're armed with your smart phone...
