| - This place is a nice little get-away from the craziness of Las Vegas. My boyfriend and I stayed there this December.
Check-in was pretty slow- we waited in line for about 40 minutes. There were a lot of people in the lobby, and we figured the day after christmas was going to be pretty busy... but 40 minutes?
We reserved a room with a balcony on-line, but when we arrived the front desk said they were all taken.. bummer! So we got to our room; a tiny little room on the first floor right next to the lobby... and the screaming kids in the lobby.
We are not a picky couple, and rarely complain.. but we just wanted a quiet place to relax. So we went back to the front desk and asked if we could be moved to a different room.. we were willing to pay for an upgrade too- we would've taken anything else. The blonde lady informed us that, again, all the rooms were booked.
Oh well... to the bar we went. Happy hour is pretty good, 50% was taken off the bill for hh drinks. We had a couple cocktails then headed to the restaurant, The atmosphere was nice, food was just OK. I had the almond-crusted trout (wouldn't recommend it), my guy ordered the steak (wouldn't recommend that either)...but our server was super cool and the cheesecake was delicious.
We decided to head back and watch a movie. However, our room did not have a DVD player, so we went to the front desk and asked the very nice lady behind the desk, Angie, if they could possibly lend us one. She informed us that all DVD players were in use, but she would gladly move us to a room with one...WHAT!? I thought you were all out of rooms?! Apparently, they had plenty.. and even ones with balcony's.
We got to the room and it was 100 times better than the first. Nice little living room and a huge king bed.
Overall the trip was pleasant- service was great, our (2nd) room was awesome, and its a perfect little getaway from Vegas.
My recommendation to people that stay there; get a room on the 3rd floor (balcony rooms). My recommendation to the hotel manager; make sure your front desk staff are aware of room availability before telling guests that there is nothing else available.
