Beware of the management if they do a bait and switch on rooms. We booked our king suite months in advance on March 27th for the RNC knowing that the prices would increase later. But on May 16th my reservation was mysteriously rebooked for a basic king room. Fortunately for me I had a copy of my original booking to prove we had a suite. The clerk didn't know that and was going off what the computer saying I booked in May for a basic king room. Unfortunately they gave our room to someone else. To be clear I never changed or modified my booking. The rooms were selling for $545 per night around mid May but I paid about $75 per night for mine when I booked it. You do the math and see that the owners or management got greedy and sneaky and didn't think I would notice. Then to compound the situation when I tried to explain to the clerk on duty that Sunday that I made reservations for a king suite she said that I can get a suite for $50 more. WTF????? Finally after a lengthy discussion and a call to the management and they changed my room back to the original reservation and told told me i was getting a better room at a discount. A better room at a discount? You mean i was getting the correct room for what I paid for. Twisting the story around? I had to take a basic room of the first night since they had no king suites available. Really? Its not my fault people waited for the last minute to book a room at the $545 price. To be clear the prices dropped at convention time to around $120-$150. And we noticed every night we returned after 2am there were few cars and many unsold rooms. How do I know that? Easy. The curtains were pulled back on empty rooms and you can inside them. One night we counted over 9-11 rooms on the first and second floors on the north side of the hotel. Looks like there attempt to over charge RNC guest backed fired and people looked else where.
Now for the other detail why they got only one star. We had to switch and move our stuff from the basic to suite rooms the next day and they tried to rush us like its my fault I wanted the change. They claimed they needed to prepare our basic king room from the first night for other guest and rooms were in "high demand". If you read the last part of my report. That was a lie. Also we had alot of stuff with us and equipment set up. Wasted two hours to do this room setup in twice.
Next concern. The suite was almost nice except the floor was not vacuumed and there was a insect waiting to greet us in the bathroom. Also food was left in the refrigerator. Also found coins on ground in kitchen area. See photos.
I hate saying bad things about places and people. Folks if you want to stay here thats on you. But just remember to know whats up and be ready for a possible bait and switch trick.
Lastly, we requested to see a manager or owner multiple times during our stay. None were available. It was usually only one clerk running the whole thing. With a "busy" hotel they kept staffing to absolute minimum and appears to be no security. How do I know that. One clerk has to do rounds around hotel leaving front desk unattended. We noticed that was the case several times and was told to call the phone for the clerk. Again it reinforces the notion the ownership is cheap and greedy. I cant wait to find time to contact wyndham hotels to report this.
