| - Growing up in a small, Northern Ontario town there were very few venues to rely on for the latest music info, videos and news. I think the only concert our city ever saw before I left was a Duran Duran cover band. (and it wasn't so bad).
So, our outlet was Much Music, and as a kid, there was nothing better than to watch RSVP, the NewMusic, and to check out the quips from the VJ's.
When I moved to Toronto, I remember thinking how awesome it would be to check out Much Music in person-hoping to end up as a completely oblivious (of course) passerby answering Bill Welychka's music Qs. But, I found, to my disappointment that it had changed.
Maybe it was a consequence of age, or bad music, but the channel didn't seem to have the same focus as it once did. And lately, Much Music has been playing more reality based television shows, than music videos.
It's obvious where the ratings are, and based on the horrible videos and VJ's they have now, I suppose it's not a bad move on their part. However, I've seen a downward spiral in the watchability of this channel for years, and it seems to be only a matter of time before it succumbs to it's American counterpart.
