| - Definitely my goto place in the future. I came in for the Yelp $7.77 smog check deal...my car had a problem during the test so I had to drive few miles to cycle the systems and then come back. When I came back, I was in and out in 15 minutes, test passed!
For the negative reviewers with complaints about the up sell-- understand that the Yelp deals and other offers are designed to get you in there, just like any store "sale" that you might goto. The difference is that stores bank on the likelihood that you will purchase additional things once you walk through the door. With auto shops, most people go in for a specific thing and rarely know/care that other things might be needed (e.g., wearing out but not yet broken). It's a business...they're not making much (if any money) on smog checks alone. But if your car needs an oil change or something, you can give them the work.
As far as up selling, you have to ask yourself whether or not you were given a choice...i.e., "you should probably have this done also..." vs. "you won't get your car back unless you do this also..." Many people neglect their car maintenance and I imagine car service is like trauma. (Would it be better if the tech observed a bunch of maintenance issues but didn't tell you because you only came for the smog check?)
Bottom line, they seem straight up to me, if you don't like the up sell, politely decline and ask for what you you came for. (If they try extortion, call the BBB.)
