rev:text	This was our second trip to Meat & Potatoes. Both have been verey good, just short of excellent. Service was friendly, and though the tables are very close to each other, somehow it works in this place. Perhaps it is the overall gregarious atmosphere. Now to the food... We started with 3 apps: (1) The grilled bread was great as always. Great value at $3, always perfectly toasted, with superb butter and jam. (2) Mushroom flatbread ($12) - also great, just as good as the shortrib flatbread we had last time. Portions are generous. (3) Yellowtail cerviche - This was the one downside, and it was pretty far down. It was $12, and had 6 little scrapings of yellowtail. All I could thing of was "margins" as I was eating this - it must be 90%+. Also, while the sauce around the scraps of yellowtail were good, there was nothing to get it up with. I asked the waiter about it, and he offered a spoon instead of bread. With so many other good things on the menu that are tasty and filling, I highly recommend you avoid this menu item. My wife had a pasta (farfelle) with shortrib and pork shoulder ($18) - so excellent! I then had a burger with pimento cheese toppings, which was outstanding - meat to bun. Also, the fries it came with were perfect - all only $12. Finally, we sampled 3 different drinks - their signature bourbon cocktail, and two vodka based cocktails. All were great, and all cost $10. There was just enough alcohol and overall flavor in them to justify the price. Overall, Meat & Potatoes continues to please. Other than the yellowtail app, they are avoiding overly "shi-shi-ing" themselves by providing hearty, innovative food and drink at a moderate price.
