| - Herbs & Rye was some of the best dining I've had in awhile. The aesthetic was incredibly cool, with a jazzy vintage theme, the service was awesome, the food was delicious, and the drinks - which are the main event at Herbs & Rye - definitely lived up to the hype.
The parking lot is small but there are plenty of empty spaces in the businesses to the west, and just looking at the exterior, you would have no idea how classy (but not fussy - some people were dressed to the nines in the bar area but plenty were wearing jeans and flip flops) the place is on the inside.
Happy Hour is from 5 (I think?) until 8, and most foods and basic mixer drinks are half off. That was an incredible deal and certainly one that will have me coming back to the restaurant. Their specialty drinks - which consume 3 whole pages in the menu, compared to the 2 pages of food choices - are really what H&R is known for, and for a good reason: they're unique in their flavor and strong in a way that drinks no longer are in Vegas these days. Arranged according to the historic era in which they were popularized, it is difficult to choose which one to order, as they are all so interesting. While they aren't included in the Happy Hour, they really hit the mark: for $11, I found myself pretty drunk after half a glass of my cocktail (admittedly, I am a bit of a lightweight, but still - it's a great value).
For drinks, I chose the Weekend at the Waldorf - a very sweet and fruity concoction that our waitress described as "like drinking a pez candy" - and I have to agree with her. I loved it. My friend got the Fogcutter, which was served icy cold in a fun ceramic tiki mug, and while it was a blend of liquors I'm not really into, she loved hers, too. For food, she got (and loved) the flatbread, which, as an app, wasn't included in the Happy Hour pricing. For $4 more, I got the NY strip steak with garlic mashed potatoes. The steak was very well seasoned and the mashed potatoes were creamy and flavorful.
This will probably be my new go-to date night venue. I highly recommend it.
