I stopped by here last night as part of a party of 6. We had made reservations for Uncle Sals at 6 PM earlier in the day and arrived at 5 minutes past the hour to a ready table. The inside of the restaurant is quite large with a huge bar up a few steps to the right and then a good amount of seating. There is also some seating outside on the patio. We ended up getting sat in a large circular booth near the back of the restaurant. From what I could tell back there Uncle Sals reminded me of an old school Italian restaurant with lots of dark woods, dim lighting and pictures on the wall.
Our table decided to start off the evening by splitting the frito misto. Since there were 6 of us it didn't go very far but I was able to have some calamari and shrimp. While some of the calamari was good, others had a little more of a fishy taste than I liked. It was the shrimp which was excellent though being fried to a perfect golden brown and tasting nice and sweet. Then for my entree I ordered the chicken piccata which came with a starter of salad or soup for which I chose salad and a side of green beans. Whenever it came to the table I saw it was maybe a single chicken breast covered in piccata sauce with a large helping of green beans on the side. If I had been hungrier on this evening I probably would complain about the sizing but for me this was perfect. The chicken was cooked nicely and the sauce was really quite good. It had a somewhat thick consistency and the lemon and white wine brought the acidity while the capers brought the saltiness. It was good enough that I ended up dipping my greens into the sauce after I had finished the chicken. As for the green beans themselves, they were just ok. The reason that I say that is that they were cooked a little softer than the al dente that I like (it's a personal preference so I am not complaining.)
The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I thought that the food was pretty good, especially my piccata sauce, and that it was fairly priced.
