My experience at Salt Cellar located in Scottsdale. I loved the ambience. This is an old underground restaurant which is beautiful. A little crowded and congested but still a nice cozy place. The food and presentation however was disgraceful. For an overall review of what we ordered and the quality of the food is as follows; Halibut Ceviche $16 - A little too tangy then what I was expecting, the dish was served in a pretty cup, however the oyster crackers were served in a soufflé paper cup (the same as the paper cups that you find at McDonalds for ketchup) - that was a $16 dish. I ordered the Charcoal Broiled Georges Bank Sea Scallops $40; now this dish was prepared excellently. The scallops were sweet and melted in your mouth - an A+ for sure. My wife ordered the Cajun Style Blackened Atlantic Halibut $44, the chef that created this meal, took blackened to a whole different level. The fish looked burnt more than blackened... the fish literally crumbled - it was that dry. I took the leftovers home, and the first words that came out of my 13 year old daughter's mouth was 'wow this is dry'. Both dishes were served with a salad, steamed carrots and a baked potato. The salad was extremely generic with lettuce, cherry tomatoes, and crotons with dressing. The baked potato was cooked fine. The carrots however were difficult to cut with a knife. I like a little crunch in my vegetables but these carrots didn't seem to have seen much steam. Overall, we went in with high hopes and came back deflated. Personally, will not be going back here again.
