  • Just spent a week in Montreal and needed a place to get work done while I was away. Decided to check out Crew on the recommendation of another freelancer friend, and it was exactly what I needed. Crew Collective is part co-working space and part cafe, with a full-service restaurant. It has been built into the old Royal Bank Tower in downtown Montreal. The new owners have largely preserved the interior, with brick and high ceilings and epic ceilings. Seriously, when we first arrived, I think about 15-minutes just staring at the cathedral ceilings which looked like something you would see in a church. OK, so let's talk about the important stuff. This place is popular and when we arrived at 11:30 am, it was hard to find a seat (but we did). So arrive early! They have a mix of community harvest tables and couches for folks to sit on. There are spaces that you can also book out (for 2 hour intervals) which cost $30/hour if I read the signage correctly. The wifi is actually FAST and does not require a password. It's likely better than most cafes that I visited throughout my week visit in Montreal. But of course, it's a coworking space, so it makes sense. The food and coffee here are pretty great, although the prices are pretty expensive (imo). I ordered an iced latte for $5.75 and was thinking of ordering a lunch bowl but it ranged between $15-$22. Either way, my experience here was great. Would highly recommend it if you're looking for a place to get work done. Seems like I'm not the only one who feels this way.
