| - Well, I was a free agent on the hunt for a new hair stylist and I think I found my new home. At the risk of others reading this review and booking up all the appointments, I'm still going to post this review! I am a natural red-head whose hair has turned rather gray a little too early in life, so rather than accepting this fact, I absolutely will be coloring it for at least the next decade. But I hate having an "unnatural: red color which is the worst. On top of this, I have very thick hair (meaning a lot of it) that is wavy. Of course, this can be an asset, but it can also be a pain when it's not cut right or gets too heavy and gives me headaches. I've been to many stylists that insist upon layering my hair, which only makes it puff out more and look wild. I keep asking for the stylist to get rid of some of the thickness and all they do is layer it.
I'm a professional business woman and single mom, which means I need to be able to get up everyday and look good as fast as possible. My issue has been that I haven't been able to find a stylist who can actually get my red color right AND cut my hair on the wave and thin it out - until now.
I literally stumbled upon Jody at Scissors Rox Paper about a week and a half ago. I have worked right around the corner from the place for years and actually didn't know what it was for quite some time. Then, the other day, I got online looking for a stylist close to my work and saw this place again. I read the reviews here and it sounded like others had the same problems that I have had. So I walked over to the place and asked to set an appointment with Jody. Although she wasn't going to be available on that Saturday, she just happened to have an appointment available in 10 minutes from when I walked in. I took it.
Going to that appointment was the best thing that has happened in my "hair" life in years. Jody sat me down, talked with me about my past problems, and completely understood. She colored my hair like a pro and it looks phenomenal. And she thinned my hair with a razor while telling me that we need to let those layers grow out! I was a bit nervous while she was thinning my hair because it seemed like a lot of hair! I'm so glad I let her do her thing because I have had so many compliments this week on my hair it is unreal!
And the best thing, it is now wash-n-go hair. I've never had it easier! It actually looks better if I wash it and let it air dry than if I try to style it.
On top of Jody's awesomeness, I will tell you that I love the lack of pretentiousness at Scissors, Rox, Paper. They are very welcoming and have a hip-retro vibe. I'm so glad I stumbled upon them and hope I get to have Jody do my hair for years to come.
