I was so excited to see that this Pilates studio was opening in North Scottsdale. Buuuuut, I was super disappointed when I tried out a class here.
First of all, the equipment feels cheap. The machines are not standard reformers & they're hard (not cushioned) & uncomfortable.
Second, they don't offer different class levels. I have been doing Pilates for 12 years & the class I took felt like intermediate/advanced. We were standing up on the machines - that's kind of crazy for any beginners. If you're new to Pilates, go somewhere else before you take a class here.
Third, and worst of all, I HATED the way they teach the exercises. While you're doing one move, the instructor tells you how to do the next move. But you're not allowed to do it until she counts down. This is counter-intuitive. It's hard to concentrate on doing one exercise properly while envisioning how to do the next movement.
The good news? It's a hardcore workout with cardio + muscle building/toning all in one. If you're experienced at doing Pilates & want a fast-paced aerobic class, you may like it.
Honestly, I'd give 2 stars but I feel bad because they're brand new.
