| - The Ritz Carlton Toronto is truly a five-star hotel experience. Having just opened in February of this year, the furnishings and decor are brand new and the rooms seem to sparkle. On arrival, I was greeted by a doorman in traditional livery who opened the door for me to a stunning and grand lobby. Check-in at the front desk was quick and easy and handled by true professionals who know the meaning of customer service.
I am not sure I have ever been so impressed by a standard hotel room as I was at this hotel. Even the standard room has a marble entry/foyer with beautiful wood closets and bar. The bathroom is perfect. A standing shower and toilet room on one side and a soaking tub on the other, connected by two marble sinks. It gets better though - the marble floors in the bathroom are heated! And if that doesn't impress you, aim the remote at the bathroom mirror and a TV appears within the mirror!
The bedding, of course, was heavenly. Every light in the room, from the desk lamp to the ceiling entry lights, were controlled by dimming switches, allowing you to create your own ambiance. My room on the tenth floor had an awesome view of the lake, the CN Tower and the Convention Center. My final night I spent in a patio room on the sixth floor - while it did not have a great view, it had a very spacious balcony/patio to enjoy.
On the fifth floor is the Ritz spa and pool - the pool is quite nice; i did not use the spa. Also on this floor is the hotel's 24 hour gym, by far the best hotel gym I have ever used. Freeweights, weight machines, cardio - it has everything you need, so if you are a fitness freak like me, this is one hotel you WON'T need to find a nearby gym and pay for day passes.
I spent three wonderful nights at this hotel - and whenever I return to Toronto, there is nowhere else I'd stay. The Ritz Carlton Toronto is a magnificent hotel that I highly recommend.
