| - I lived at Rock Creek for 10 months and I loved every minute of it! I couldn't have asked for a better, safer location. The complex is right across the street from Stonecrest shopping center which boasts a Harris Teeter, Target, movie theater, restaurants and more. It's also right off of 485, making it easy to get around Charlotte.
My lease ran from December 2015-October 2016 and I was very sad to leave. I moved only to be 5 mins away from work vs. 35 minutes, otherwise I would have renewed. As someone who researched nearly every apartment complex in the Ballantyne area, I can assure you that I did not find a place of better quality for the price. My roommate and I paid a total of $1,160 for a 2 bedroom in the older phase of the complex. I live in South End now, where my roommate and I pay $1,630 for an apartment of almost equal size for a complex with less amenities.
I moved into Rock Creek right after graduating from college, and the staff was nothing but friendly and helpful from the get go. I worked with Taylor to rent my apartment, who sadly has left since, but Marlee, Keneicia, and Melissa were all just as wonderful to work with. I ask A LOT of questions before making a decision (and even after), and they always answered every email I sent and never got irritated with me no matter how many questions I had. I made a point to get to know the leasing staff and it paid off. I received my entire security deposit back (minus the last water bill) within two weeks after my lease ended. They were very professional and kind.
Any maintenance request I submitted was resolved within 24 hours. I lived in the same building as one of the maintenance techs and he'd even check in every once in awhile to make sure things were going smoothly for me. Super courteous and fast service which I genuinely appreciated. Only issues I ever had were with my garbage disposal, weather stripping on the front door and air filters needing to be replaced.
The layout of my apartment was perfect for my roommate and I. We had almost equal sized bedrooms with walk in closets and were both able to have bathrooms in our rooms, hers with a door that also made it accessible from the hallway. My only complaint was the lack of natural light, but this can be resolved by choosing a unit that doesn't face away from the sun. We were also facing the trees. We chose this unit because it was on the 3rd floor, meaning we had no neighbors above us and were able to have vaulted ceilings and a fireplace. Having a laundry room was also a big bonus. Our unit had just been renovated and we had stainless steel appliances, new cabinets and brand new wild rice carpet. And we were in the OLD phase of the complex!! It was very clean and we never had any issues with bugs, trash, or noisy neighbors. Occasionally I could hear traffic from 485, but I am very sensitive to noise. You must pay for valet trash, which is $20-30 a month depending on your unit. I found the service to be convenient, although I wouldn't have minded having to walk my garbage to one of the dumpsters on site.
The amenities at this complex are the best I've found for the price we paid. The swimming pool is gorgeous, never too crowded and we were able to meet people and families of all ages. The grills and outdoor patio area with a TV, couches and string lights were awesome. My friends and I used this area every day during the summer. The hot tub is open year round and is such a nice feature! I spent much of my time here. The gym had everything we needed and more. Working out was fun since the equipment had TVs attached or you could watch on the plasma screen. The gym looks out at the pool area and also features a separate room for yoga, with a TV and iPad setup so you can watch tutorials which I loved. The business center is great for a quiet spot if you need to get away and work. I also loved the media room's big television and seating area. I'd work from home here a lot.
Parking was never an issue. There is uncovered parking throughout the complex and there are no assigned spots. Every day I was able to get a spot right in front of my building. When I had guests, it was so nice not to have to print a guest parking pass or go outside and let them in. They could park and come up with ease! There is also an awesome car washing station that residents can use for free. They have a dog park, too, although I never used it since I didn't have pets.
The community had just started doing more meet and greet for its residents around the time my lease was over. I went to an event they had at the new Blackfinn in Ballantyne and it was fun. They paid for appetizers for their residents and it gave everyone a chance to meet the leasing team as well as their neighbors. They're big on a community feel and they want everyone to feel welcome and at home.
Your experience here will be what you make it! I would recommend this place to almost anyone looking for an apartment.
