| - Meh. Overrated. Acceptable food, creative rolls and fish, excellent service but the food is, in my humble, "yet incredibly spoiled for sushi" opinion, this was just "OK". I've eaten sushi & sashimi all over the world and looked forward to trying Roku Scottsdale (we've been to another location and were underwhelmed but thought we'd try again). We were staying at the W and based on their website (silly me!) we thought we'd give it a try (from the W website: "Voted "Top 10 Asian Restaurants" by Arizona Republic, Sushi Roku, our Scottsdale restaurant, pushes the boundaries of modern Asian cuisine with a dazzling array of fresh sushi, luscious salads, thoughtful appetizers, and an extensive selection of hot entrees.:) Top 10 Asian restaurants? Pushes the boundaries??? Dazzling array???? Me thinks not so much....
The yellowtail with diced chilies (aka jalapeno slices) was the best dish we had, I would recommend that. OToro was quite good, the rest? Not memorable (I can't even recall what we had). We had ordered salted edamame as a starter, however, it came out after we finished all of our sashimi and sushi and it was burned, actually inedible. Great 1/2 price Sake deal mid week was a nice touch though. Again, the chefs and the servers were excellent, but I would recommend Kodo Sushi & Sake in No. Scottsdale WAY more.
