  • We had heard about Capo's on the TV show Man Finds Food before our trip to Vegas and it looked like a lot of fun (and the food reviews were very good). Capo's did not disappoint! One note: it's a $50 cab ride from the Strip ($25 each way), but it was worth it, as the cost for a full dinner and drinks was about half what you'd pay in Strip restaurants. This place is a hoot -- you have to ring a bell and then you're asked for a password to be let in (like the old Speakeasy's - very fun) The restaurant is VERY dark, especially coming from the Vegas sun -- it's dark and very cozy with lots of half-booths. The décor is fun, photos of gangsters and Sinatra's mugshot. There is a singer doing lounge songs, and he's pretty good! Our waiter, Bruce, was great -- his personality fit the place perfectly. He gave us recommendations for dinner and wine. For appetizer, we went with the bruschetta, which was very good. The bread was thin and toasty/crunchy and absorbed the yummy tomato topping, it was very light. For dinner, hubby got the shrimp scampi with angel hair pasta -- the sauce was tasty, but the shrimp were over-cooked which was sad because the pasta was perfect. I went with the recommendation of the chicken marsala with mushroom risotto -- it was just excellent and so delicious, a great combo together. The chicken was so tender you could cut with a fork and the marsala was thick and full of flavor. The risotto was a perfect match. I am an Italian from Boston and I have not had a better Italian meal in the North End. As we had ordered our apps, Hubby said "I know that waiter, we have seen him before" and then we realized that he had served us at the Range at Harrah's a few years back -- he had a personality that leaves a positive impression. We asked him and sure enough it was the same guy! He was thrilled that we had remembered him, he spent a few minutes telling us about what happened with the Range and how he ended up at Capo's. What a sweet guy, so genuine - he said he was so happy that we remembered him and you could tell he really meant it. What a great experience - we will be back. The only reason it's not 5 star is because of the over-cooked shrimp, other than that it was spot-on perfect!
