  • Let me first start with I am a very realistic/logical person. I have obtained two degrees from UOP and feel the school is what you make of it. Having come from a community college to UOP, I appreciated the adult treatment. From my start date in 2008 until today they have not left my side with regards to academics. To the point I would sometime get annoyed with the emails and calls to ensure I am on track. However I much rather have this then not. My challenges with UOP came from dealing with Financial Aid. The staff was very consistent with giving me wrong information; which more then not required escalation, but on the escalation level all was taken care of. In comparing them with online community college classes I feel UOP structure and work load is ten times more. I almost think they give more work to compensate you attending online classes. I will say the school is not for those who are trying to find themselves within college or even in life. Coming to the school with a open mind and ready to learn would be the best advise I could give anyone. As with all things in life there will be challenges and not every shoe will fit and in that case you must be informed enough to know when to walk away. Now with regards to cost, the school is expensive but I think the cost is in line with any other for profit school, which goes with the point I just made about the shoe fitting. In addition online classes requires disciplined , as it is not their job to make sure you succeed, it is a joint venture that will provide you success. Side Note: There are and will be situations you nor UOP can foresee and will require you both to cross that bridge when it happens, such as life :) In closing my final thoughts are I am going to pursue higher education and have not determine if UOP is where I will be doing it. Reason is I am a firm believer in gaining knowledge from different sources to make me great. I love the school and recommend it to those who are ready to learn with a open mind and have viewed all their options including cost.
