  • I have been going to Shawnee dog park for almost 5 years and over the coarse of that time it has gone from exceptional to just plain garbage. The trash cans are always overflowing with waste bags, large mud patches, mosquitoes, and the biggest problem of "problematic dogs and their owners". Over the last year i have been taking my dog less and less due to the amount of people who come with poorly mannered or outright aggressive dogs. The dogs run around starting fights with other dogs while the owners chat with each other as if they are in a book club together. If you attempt to keep your dog from harm the irresponsible dog owners gang up on you or make a fast getaway so they don't have to pay for vet bills. The picture is what one of those dogs did to mine for no reason, she was laying down napping when the other dog ran up and bit down on her head and ear. I ended up paying $500 dollars out of my pocket for vet bills. I'm now looking for other parks to go to as this one is over run I'll tempered dogs and clueless owners.
