I hired a handyman from AskforTask in Vancouver. He was very helpful in that I had a rush job. I had some issues with his work though - he wasn't too good at putting up my mirrored bathroom cabinet (I had to have my regular handyman redo it after he got back from vacation as it was crooked and falling off) and didn't seem too good at putting together IKEA furniture (took over three hours to put a bed together and I had to take over). I question AskforTask's vetting of their workers' qualifications. I had posted that I needed a lighting fixture changed. He told me that he was going to google it because he hadn't done that before.
Also, I booked a tree cutting service with them for an estimated three to four hour job. I cancelled it a week before it was to be done, but because the worker had already contacted me and scheduled the date, they refunded me only 50% of the cost of the work. I didn't think that was fair.
Would not recommend AskforTask. I don't think their workers are WCB covered either, which could mean a big lawsuit if a worker gets hurt on your premises.
