| - Finally, a decent tasting Thai spot in Mesa that is close enough to me!!! I'm from Southern California and took a recent trip to Thailand this summer, so I'm pretty particular about my Thai food!
Also, this spot is located on the side of Albertsons on Power and Broadway. The troll who dropped the location pin for Thai Plates didn't know how to drop a freakin' pin, caused me to circle around for a while to find the spot when I was sooooooo hungry. No bueno.
Parking: plentiful during lunch time, I don't think this will ever be a problem in AZ LOL
Ambience: non existent, it's a quaint spot, no thrill, no show, just good old food as their only attraction. My friends and I wanted to eat at home so we ordered to-go, I can't quite comment on their service.
FOOD: the only thing that matters here.
-Chicken satay with peanut sauce (appetizer) 2.5/5: it was a bit dry and not really memorable, the peanut sauce is gooood though!
-Pad see ew with beef: 1/5, the worst item we had that day, the noodles were overcooked, soggy, broken into pieces, just meh.
-Som tum aka papaya salad: 4.5/5 the crunchy texture was perfect, the shrimps were massive, the dressing was on point. Dare I say, it was almost as good as the ones I've had in Thailand!!!!
-Pumpkin curry: 4.5/5 we were feeling a bit #basic, so we wanted some pumpkin things for Fall, it's basically the same as red curry, but with pumpkin instead of potatoes. It was SO GOOD! Definitely recommend
- Eggplants with tofu 4/5: this was also yummy, the eggplants was cooked just right, the sauce was delicious, the tofu was just a little dry, but I would order this again!
I'll will definitely be back for more! Probably next week when I don't have time to cook while studying for exams :P
