  • I have never sweat more in an ice cream shop than here. Arctic Bites is one of the most literal names I have ever stumbled across for an ice creamery. The only thing Arctic about this place is the few bites you'll get out of your (practically melted before you leave the store) Ice Cream. Although the store is decorated to be a cute, modern, ice cream shop - do not be fooled. This place has more in common with an overpacked street car in rush hour than an ice cream parlor. (And I mean the OLD TTC streetcars... none of those beautiful creatures roaming Spadina). I went in after seeing a meager 12 people in line before me (small for that shop) and figured it would be a great treat on a hot summer day. Little did I know, by lining up I had signed myself up for an hour expedition through the Sahara. An hour and a full-episode of what-could-have-been the amazing race des(s)ert edition later I was given the holy grail of ice creams (Mr. Grey). Although the ice cream itself was awesome, I don't really know if it was worth the mandatory one-hour hot yoga session I was forced into beforehand. Nor did my Ice Cream last very long, as most of it melted while I waited for my friends to be served. Overall... if you're into being crammed into a sardine case in the middle of an oven only to have a couple ice cubes given to you at the end of the day, definitely line up... if not, you might be better off closing your eyes and eating Ben & Jerry's for a more relaxed experience.
