I was missing Richardson's - specifically the garlic plate - so I finally checked out Dick's Hideaway, which is in the "Richardson's family" of restaurants. Dick's is about half bar / half restaurant. I would have preferred a nice comfy booth in the dining room, but we didn't like how the dining room was so small and isolated so we sat at a high top table in the bar area. There's a nice selection of beers on tap and the food menu is pretty expansive. Start with the garlic plate and don't plan on being hungry for much more after that.
The New Mexican Chicken was fine but was not a particularly distinctive dish and didn't exactly remind me of New Mexico. The red, white, and blue enchiladas had more character but they were covered in so much cheese that you couldn't tell where one began and the other ended, much less figure out which enchilada was which until you were halfway through eating it.
If I'm being too negative about the food, maybe it's because I was already full from the garlic plate. Or maybe we just didn't order the right things. Either way, I would come back here. The cozy New Mexican-style atmosphere is fantastic and they have some decent happy hour specials.
