| - We had a great time with Matt!!! We wanted to support a local, small tour company but we also wanted the full experience of the Hoover dam as neither me or my soulmate had seen it before. Matt picked us up from our hotel around 720am. Prior to picking us up, he suggested layers as the river was going to be cooler that day. When he arrived in his van, he had more coats, gloves hats etc.
We then took off to the Hoover dam lodge. We had been on the strip for a few days so it was nice to get away from the city and see what else was in the surrounding area. We arrived to the Hoover dam lodge where we had a 15 minutes to use the restroom, see the history etc.
We left from the Hoover dam lodge and headed to our launching site! This was such an experience. Matt and other kayak outfitters are the only ones with access to this area. We were able to see the dam from the water, an experience most people aren't able to have or see. It was amazing! We took pictures and launched.
Matt provided a kayak catered to our experience and size. He provided lunch, snacks, water and other beverages. All we brought was ourselves, a towel and our ID's!
During the kayak trip, there were multiple caves and hot springs. Most of these experiences were in the first 3ish miles of the 12 mile extravaganza. The last 6 miles were beautiful, however it started to get long. Matt was encouraging, offering Kayak tips and suggestions but I suggest being aware that this is an all day event. Be prepared to paddle!! The scenery is breathtaking and Matt is a great guide!
I strongly recommend this experience. It is worth the money as you are able to experience the dam and the Colorado river in ways most people aren't able to! BOOK IT!
