| - I keep giving Main Street a try, at two different locations (Hudson and Medina), and I don't know why I do. They're really not that good. My own cupcakes taste better. Buehlers' cupcakes are better.
The cake is good. Moist and tasty. But without fail, there is way too much frosting and the frosting is way too sweet. Last try was a red velvet cake. Frosting was way, way too sweet, and they didn't use a cream cheese frosting. Really disappointed. Perhaps I'm too picky, but to me red velvet just isn't red velvet without a cream cheese frosting. (if there was cream cheese in there, I couldn't taste it!). I could be totally wrong, but sometimes it seems like maybe they use shortening rather than butter in their frosting, and a high sugar ratio (which results in it being a bit gritty and "crusty". I don't like hard frosting). It sometimes seems a little translucent rather than creamy. I guess I prefer French buttercream, lighter in texture and not as overwhelmingly sweet.
Don't get me wrong, they are good, just not great. But, I don't have too many other choices nearby!
