Meh.
Wanted to love this place but even with the cutester name Vovomeena is clearly not in the same foodie league as the far superior Matt's Big Breakfast.
Visited on a Sunday with my 15 year old daughter - located in a strip shopping complex downtown off McDowell. You enter from the back parking lot pavement. Cute inside but honestly nothing that special in terms of decor or ambiance. Unique? Not really.
Daughter ordered the "Pain Perdu" Banana Bread Pudding French Toast and I ordered the Tortilla Espanola.
The menu selection honestly left both of us in the dust - looks like the owners are trying way too hard to come up with foodie names and odd mixtures of flavors that make it feel quite limited.
The French Toast arrived and my daughter hated it - she described it as a wet, gloppy, overly sugary soggy mess and said it also tasted like there was meat inside the French Toast (yuck).
After a few bites she sent it back (happily accepted by the friendly staff btw) and got a plain waffle instead (she rated it as fair). She said the bacon was OK but nowhere near as good as Matt's BB. Oh well.
My Tortilla Espnola was decent - probably more potato than egg, a little dry - I've had better. I asked for a little olive oil to serve on top to moisten it a bit - server responded and said the kitchen didn't have olive oil, but "would I like some vegetable oil instead?"
A supposedly foodie place that doesn't have olive oil - anywhere? Good grief.
Ignore all the raves at this VERY mediocre spot. This is not and will not be the hot new spot downtown - not even close. LUX does a far better breakfast, so does Coronado Cafe or the reigning champ... Matt's Big Breakfast.
Work on the food and food choices here folks - you guys are trying way too hard.
Good food means simple pleasures prepared and served well. Won't be back.
