So the day I submitted my Better Business Bureau complaint, like magic I get a call from a Scott Clark representative wanting to talk about my experience. The man was personable and he seemed to pay attention. He asked questions so he could figure out where the disconnect was happening and why I was continuing to get unwanted junk mail at my job 5 years after my last contact with Scott Clark. He seemed to figure it out, he sounded confident that he could make them stop and he left his name and number with me and told me to call him directly if I get anymore mailings. I couldn't help but wonder: If it was this simple, then why wasn't it handled 5 years back? Because they clearly didn't care that it was causing me problems until I created a problem for them by involving the BBB.)
I think it's very telling that 5 years of my telephoned and mailed requests to be removed from their marketing lists went utterly ignored, but then when I finally involve the BBB, they can magically show interest the same day.?. To me, that reflects their "re-active over pro-active" core business ideals and practices; and in 2016 it's an incredibly outdated / "good 'ol boy" way to operate, but it is what it is. At least I finally got a response :-)
