  • 02/25/17 - They showed up several hours late, arriving around noon when I was expecting them to arrive around 9 AM. One of the workers told me that they had flat tire on the way over, but another worker told me that they had a dead battery so I am not sure what really happened. Anyway, this delay caused several problems for me and my family because we were expecting to be in our new home by early afternoon, but due to their late arrival, we didn't leave the first house until late in the afternoon / early evening. This late start robbed us of the time we needed to unpack things and settle in for our first night in our new home. In addition, because I thought I would be in the new house by late afternoon, I scheduled various install services at the end of the day, but because I was stuck at the first house, I had to reschedule some of those services for another day. Waiting a week or more for cable TV and pet door installation came with great inconvenience to me and my family. I also scheduled four (4) movers, but got three (3) instead and one the movers was nothing more than a kid and needed constant direction by the other two. One of the task given to him was to shrink wrap furniture, which he did very well, a little too well, as he wrapped my furniture 7-8 layers thick, using up two of my own rolls of shrink wrap and forcing me to buy one of their rolls at premium cost. In the end, I really just got two productive movers. One of the reasons why I wanted four guys was to ensure that I would be in my new house by early afternoon. Both didn't happen. The first half of the day started off well, but as the day went on, the pace got much slower. I could see that my move was going to take much longer than what they originally estimated and considering that I was paying them by the hour, I started to worry about cost. I only had so much money set aside for this move and I wondered if I would have enough to pay them. When it finally came time to move, one of the trucks wouldn't start. So there was more time lost trying to jump start the truck using my own vehicle and jumper cables. What if I didn't have a car or jumper cables available? The unloading process went on into the night with the final truck still being unloaded at 9 o'clock at night! Finally, I had to say enough is enough. I told them to dump everything in my garage and living room and I would do the rest. In the end, the move cost me over $1300 for a standard 2,200 square foot two-story home and despite the costs, I still found myself moving much of the stuff myself. In addition, I had to connect the washer and dryer and assemble all the beds myself, where other companies in the past had done that for me. To add insult to injury, I had to fork out extra time and money repairing and repainting walls from the damages they did to both homes. Instead of using the next day to unpack and settle in to my new home, I had to spend my day at the other house fixing the walls so I could get my deposit back. This situation put me another day behind schedule. Ultimately, I was forced to take two additional days off work just so I could finish moving boxes and unpack. Damage to furniture is another issue. We incurred scratches and dings to various pieces of furniture including two (2) entertainment centers, two (2) file cabinets, and our master bedroom headboard. One of the file cabinets had to be thrown away because it was so badly broken it couldn't be used. One guy broke off one of the legs to my daughter's vanity, but later tried to hide it by placing the leg back under the vanity as if it wasn't broken. A lot of effort went into making it look like the leg was still attached even though the slightest movement would cause the leg to fall over. Did he actually think we would never find that? And when I asked him about it he refused to own up to it even though I saw him do it. He eventually apologized to me at the time of payment probably because he wanted a tip. Speaking of tip, one of the things I didn't like was how the crew kept soliciting me for a tip. They showed up late, put me behind schedule, caused damage to both my homes, as well as my furniture and they want a tip? Any money that I had set aside for a tip was now going to pay for the extra hours it was taking to complete the job. I also found out later that they left behind quite a bit of stuff at the other house that I had to move myself in using my own truck. Very disappointing. This review isn't meant to take away from the hard work these guys put into my move. Ultimately, they provided me the extra muscle that I needed. Two of the three were work horses. Cyrus is a beast, carrying large pieces of furniture on his back, literally. Unfortunately, there are far too many negatives for me to recommend Arizona Movers and Storage and I caution anyone who is considering using them for their next move.
