| - The nitty-gritty:
1. Location is great, walkable to Uptown attractions. If you're sticking local, you don't need a car. If you want one, there's a Hertz at the hotel, but you'd probably be better to rent at CLT and skip the rail to the hotel or $25 flat-rate taxi.
2. The Internet is $12.95 / day. It never worked for us, which was a major bummer. I put in a call with IT, who forwarded it to "advanced IT," but despite calling on day one of a four day stay, I never heard back.
3. Parking is $18 / day and in-room movies are $14 - $16 / each. Breakfast buffet is $19 and has everything except waffles and pancakes.
4. The pool is NOT open 24-hours, as the hotel's website advertises. It closes at 10pm, and there were always kids there when we tried to go. It'd be great if 9pm-11pm was grown-up only pool time.
5. The hotel is GORGEOUS.
6. The staff was extremely friendly, though seemed a little inexperienced. There was rarely anybody at the concierge desk, and staff recommended odd things, like taking the rail one stop ($1.75) instead of walking .3 miles because "you'd have to cross a big intersection."
7. The bed is PURE HEAVEN.
8. The hotel room has no fridge! This is a major drawback in a city known for outstanding restaurants and huge portions, and more than once we had to decline to-go boxes. I've never thrown away pan-seared branzino or salmon with lobster before, and I hope to never do so again.
