| - Pros: You get to experience a piece of Las Vegas history not often explored. A great way to do something that doesn't involve clubbing, eating, or gambling.
Cons: Much smaller museum than I expected. Parking lot is available, but it has limited spots. Museum is outdoor, which leaves you to the mercy of the elements.
On March 23, 2018, my family and a group of our friends decided to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the Las Vegas Strip and learn a little bit of history behind the glitz and glamour. The Neon Museum piqued our interest. It still had a lot to do with Vegas, but not in the traditional way one would think. We arrived at the museum around noon and were lucky enough to find a covered parking spot to keep our car cool.
We were warmly greeted by a woman working at the front desk and she helped us book a group tour for later that day. You can't just arrive at the museum and walk around yourself. You must go with a guide. We wandered around the cozy gift shop and sat at their outside porch until the 45 minutes had passed and our small tour group was called.
At the commencement of our tour, we were offered umbrellas to shade us from the warming sun. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history of Las Vegas and provided us with interesting historical facts. She gave us enough time at each stop to take unobstructed photos of the signs.
Our experience at The Neon Museum was great! I loved learning useless facts (I mean that affectionately) to keep in my back pocket for that one day I have to answer that million dollar trivia question. I wouldn't recommend you bring young kids here, though, because there's not much for them to do. (It's a "hands off" type of place.) However, my 19 year-old and 10 year-old kid loved it as much as I did.
