  • Although I had come in expecting a great show, Absinthe definitely threw me for a surprise. It was not only hilarious, but also breathtaking. After hearing the rave reviews for Absinthe by coworkers, I was definitely not prepared for the vulgar/racist/sexist humor of its host, the Gazillionare. If there is someone to offend, he goes there and he milks it for all its worth. While the rest of the tent is cracking up, you can see some heads shake their heads in disapproval. If you are unfortunate to get tickets in the first several rows and are prone to be offended by such things, I would not recommend getting seats there! However, the main acts are the circus performers who do neat twists on acts that you may have already seen before. I don't want to say too much about the specific performances so as to avoid taking away the surprise, but there is never a dull moment during the show. Besides the humor, I would also caution about the seating. Made to resemble the old-school circus atmosphere, every seat is a wooden chair without much cushion and each one is strapped close to the other. It does get a little cramped especially in a full house. Plus, if you need to go to the restroom, go before! It is such a hassle to get in and out of the rows during the show and the closest one is outside the tent. Overall, Absinthe is a great show filled with amazing acrobatics and stunts punctuated by humor that is guaranteed to offend some.
