| - Freedom's Choice is exactly what you want in a bike shop: friendly, experienced mechanics who will give it to you straight and treat you respectfully.
After my '82 Kawasaki got a flat tire, I began calling around to get prices on tires and labor. I called Sportland first, as I didn't know of any other places in the area. They were having a deal on tires, but also said they wouldn't work on the bike for at least two or three weeks. They didn't even try to schedule me in. When I asked about alternatives they said "I think there's a guy on Craigslist". Their whole attitude just turned me off to them.
After doing some searching, I found Freedom's Choice and gave them a call. Dave was the exact opposite of Sportland. He gave me the prices he had on file and said he would get updated prices and give me a call back. When it took longer than expected, he called me back to let me know he was still on it. I put forth the option of buying the tires from Sportland and bringing them to him to be installed and he agreed. He said he could get me in the next day, whenever I showed up, and offered a price that was lower than Sportland's quote. He was just a pleasure and made me WANT to give him my business.
The next day, tires in tow, I showed up at Freedom's Choice and they started working on the bike right away. I sat in the office while they worked on the bike and everyone was friendly and conversational. There was just a good natured attitude that was pervasive within the office. It didn't matter that they knew more about bikes than I did, they talked to me like a friend and we chatted about our own experiences with our motorcycles.
The repairs took longer than expected, but it was due to the state of my bike. The tires has nearly disintegrated and Dave had to run out to get new valve stems. In the meantime, he also tightened up by back brake and did some little general maintenance. The difference was astounding. It was like riding a brand new bike.
The only issue I had was that they didn't give me a quote on the valve stems prior to picking them up, but given that it was the only option, it wouldn't have mattered much. The price of repairs was very fair, they didn't charge me for the delays or additional maintenance, and everything about the experience made me look forward to having them work on my bike again in the future. It's been three months or so, and I haven't had any trouble with the repairs. This is the bike shop for me.
