  • I've been to Eat a few times before since it's pretty close by. It's a solid place for breakfast foods/brunch with a twist. Everything I've ever had at Eat has been great, and I look forward to trying new things from them. The restaurant itself is decently sized, but seeing the amount of foot traffic this place gets, it's clear they should consider relocating to a larger location in downtown. The only negative about Eat is that the wait can be eternal if you go during lunch time. We came at around 10:30 am on a weekday and it was a 25-30 wait. I've been when the wait was 40-45 min, so try to come at a slower time if you want to be seating within 10 min. We got the Shrimp Po Boy, Shrimp and Grits, and the cinnamon biscuits with strawberry compote. The shrimp po boy was good, but the shrimp to vegetable ratio was very skewed towards the vegetables. There was barely any shrimps in the sandwich. The shrimp and grits were very good, and when the egg's yolk breaks into the grits, it's rich and heavenly. The pico on top gives it a nice fresh flavor and gives it some texture. One of the best things they had there was the OJ. It's fresh squeezed and sweet, and it's everything you could want in a nice OJ. The only downside was that it was $6. Kind of pricey, but if you're feeling zesty, it's a good option. Overall, the food is good. The wait sucks. Get the shrimp and grits or the grilled cheese. Don't forget the OJ.
