  • During an oil change, I am approached to trade in my car. Telling me I would get the max amount for my trade in, something newer for a better price, yeah okay. I made an appointment to check it out. Mike V. sets me up with one of his "best salesmen". They start telling me how great a Hyundai is, with their free lifetime oil changes. I correct them on that. They are only free if you do ALL of your maintenance there..Including the 15k service, where they charge you almost $200 to change air filters. They seemed shocked at the "unknown" news. I give him all the information on my car/loan, and he gives my keys to the appraiser. Things that rubbed me the wrong way....I guess I'll start at the beginning. -1- He tells me the registration in my glove box is expired. Even though the sticker on my back plate (that has MY plate number on it) doesn't expire until Mar2014. Please, don't have a cow. My registration is current, I don't see why you need it anyways, but continue. -2- While they are appraising my car, we go look at new options. Most of the cars are locked, and can't be opened to look at the inside. I wait for the salesman to fuss around with who ever to get the keys. When the car finally gets unlocked, the carpets are filthy! My car has less dirt on the than a new one with 10 miles! -3- I told him that I wanted to know what the appraisal was for my car, and to talk numbers before a test drive. He didn't seem amused. Didn't understand this....seeing as how we would have to walk back to my car (close to his office) to get my daughter's car seat for a test drive anyways. -4- They low balled the amount they were going to give me for my car. When they gave me the amount, I said absolutely not. The sales man, who I wish I would have remembered his name, asked me very rudely if I had "even KBlueBooked the car". When I told him yes, and that the amount they were giving me was a good $2000 less, he hopped on KBB.com like he had a fire under his ball sack! I did my research before I came here, jackass. -5- They weren't going to give me the loan amount. He told me that I was "always going to have negative equity in a car"...Which isn't true. If you pay it off, there is no negative equity. So, how am I ALWAYS going to have negative equity? I corrected him on that... -6- They wanted $2500 down, and a payment that was $100 more a month. Okay, so the payment isn't what gets me. It's their attitude about it. When I told him that I was hoping to get money down from my old car (by trading it in), he told me that was "illegal". I'm sure his thick skull misunderstood me, but he went on and on about how they are a dealership, and don't carry cash, and that they can't pay me to drive their cars. He then wanted to know who told me that. Ugh. -7- My daughter (13mo) had started to get fussy in his hot, small ass office. I told him that I needed to go. He kept pressing me, about what they could do to earn my business. I asked him if it was guaranteed that they could pay off my loan, with zero down.... "Well, no, I have to ask to see...." Well, then No. Don't come to me with something that isn't a guarantee. Shit annoys me like no other. If you don't bring me your absolute best deal, please don't waste my time. I don't want to do this "back and forth" thing all day. -8- The interest on the loan would be a full 1% more than what I have now. Even though on their website, it says 0% APR, but, he informed me that is only on "selected cars". -9- ONCE AGAIN, my daughter starts screaming. Patience lost with his bullshit, I say, 'I'm not trying to be a bitch, but do you have my keys? I need to GO ! " The appraiser still has my keys. He leaves the office. -10- The hostage holding salesman does not come back in with my keys. Instead, he sends another person to try and seal the deal. Even after telling this new guy that I was not interested, he followed me out to my car! He continued to explain how "great of a deal this was", and how they don't even make the body of my 2year old SUV anymore, that the warranty on my car is going to end...(?) It's my understanding that the warranty on every Hyundai is 10years/100,000 miles, whichever comes first. Or just the cars that you pick & choose? So far, mine is 2yrs/18,000miles. WOW! That sure is expiring SOON! I get my daughter in her car seat, tell him once again that I am not interested, and drive off. If I could have given him the finger, I would have. I can't stand when I feel like I'm being fucked. I know that this is a business of making money, but they lie to get you in. I have at least seen what they had to offer, which was NOTHING, and I at least know. Thankfully, they only wasted an hour of my day. Save yourself.
