  • BNB has just officially solidified its spot in my mind as one of the best eating experiences in Charlotte. Heaps above sooooo many others. Do notice though that I said EXPERIENCE. If you are looking for modern uptight decor, an inventive menu, or a cheap dinner, then no, this isn't the place for you. However if you can enjoy an old school, " if it ain't broke don't fix it" kind of vibe then you will be in pure heaven here. Sure the outside looks dated, but perhaps it's because this place has been around since the 50s so yeah...it IS old. I appreciate that they have kept it old school outside as well as in instead of giving in to the current treatment of so many great spaces (see: Doubledoor, Tommys Pub, The Steeple, and the majority of Southend) which is mow it down and build something generic. The menu is the same way, classic upscale dining straight out of your Grandmas first cookbook on how to entertain for guests, complete with melba toasts, oysters rockefeller and one of the best darn martinis I've ever had. The steaks are king here however, perfectly seasoned to the perfect temp and unlike most steakhouses that cost this much for an a la carte steak, the ones at BNB come with a salad AND a side. The salad is served as a plate of lettuce per person and a plate full of veggies to go on top. Everyone can customize their salad to their liking and might leave a few extra veggies for dipping in the delicious homemade dressings. When it comes to the sides don't miss the creamed spinach, it is sooo good. Not only is the food and atmosphere awesome here, the service is top notch as well. Personable and real without coming across as trying too hard, our waitress was once of the best I have had in a very long time. Just attentive enough without hovering, it was just the kind of service I look for in fine dining. She really went above and beyond and knew her stuff. As long as you know what you are getting into (and are excited about that) you will adore this place. So throw on your best vintage dress (or suit) and enjoy a meal out like in the good ol' days.
