I have not been to this theater in several years. I exclusively go to Harkins, but went to this theater for the first time in a long time since one of the showtimes for Wonder Woman fit better into my schedule during the day. I got there nearly a half hour before an early 10:30 am showing before the movie and was told only front rows were available, and the person at the counter showed me the layout of the theater on the screen. He said there were some single seats available if my mom and I would be okay with sitting apart. I realized that AMC now only did assigned seats. I asked for the next showing and was told it was the same situation. The person at the counter then tried to sell me seats for a 3D showing after I explicitly told them I did not want to see 3D. I realized this was not going to work, and went home with the intention to see the film at Harkins instead later in the evening.
Reserved seating is an awful idea. I should be able to get decent seat at a film at an early morning showing of a film. Since it was early, there were few customers at the theater and in the parking lot. I highly doubt that many of the people who reserved seats even showed up for the film. AMC should reevaluate this business model. I also noticed people at the kiosk next to me were also confused and off-put while trying to get seats for the film they came to see. I will not be returning the this theater, or any AMC theater again.
