So I really wanted to love this place. I liked it, a lot. I had high expectations to be honest. Vegas is huge. Retro Bakery was one of the top rated bakeries for cupcakes in all of Vegas. I thought they would be crazy good. I was picking out cupcakes for my dad's 70th birthday and taking them back to St. George. I found the place easy enough. They had a descent assortment of cupcakes on display even though I came mid day unannounced and hadn't reserved any in advance. I picked out some of the favorites - the Hop Skotch (I think it was), a Coconut one, Cookies and Cream, a Coffee and Donut one, etc. I tried to get a good mix. When I got them home for the birthday celebration, we all dove in. They were good. They hit the spot. They tasted exactly as I would have expected on the outside, but I was kind of missing the pizzazz on the inside. I would have loved to have had them infused with something - more cream? pudding? chocolate? butter cream? That's one of the things I do love about a local place here in Pleasant Grove. Right down to the center of the cupcake it's all filled with goodness. These cupcakes were stunningly beautiful and really good but didn't quite do the trick for me. That being said, if in Vegas, it's a safe bet. You can't go wrong. I just hope they step it up with some filled cupcakes soon. When they do I'll be back.
