| - Wonderful, wonderful meal. One of the best we have had in Madison.
Here they seat you at whatever opens first: a table or the bar. I would describe it as formal food, informal atmosphere. On a Saturday night quite late, people were in tennis shoes and tshirts as well as more business casual-like attire. Nobody cared. Hipster paradise, indeed! We were more dressed up but didn't stand out.
Looks like everything they have is made in house, and while it is a higher priced restaurant, it is worth the high price for the level of thought and quality.
We opted for a cheese plate, appetizer, small meat plate, entree and dessert to share between two people. Their menu changes a lot, and it was a couple weeks since we were there, so I don't remember the exact names of the plates, but the cheese plate had a blue cheddar with amazingly toasted pecans, lovely honey, and lemony jam. Out appetizer were amazing meatballs. The small plate was a lamb pasta dish, and the entree was the beef tongue. We ordered the tongue based on prior reviews, and it was delicious, however the lamb was the winning plate in my opinion, so the tongue just didn't compare.
We will absolutely return!
