| - We decided to give Cleo a second try based on the recommendation of our friends who come here fairly often. Also, we got the Travel Zoo "deal" for a 3 course price-fixed menu for the bargain price of $55 for 2. For those who don't read to the end of the review, I will start by telling you NOT to get the Travel Zoo coupon. You save about $5 to $10 a couple but are stuck with a very limited menu to chose from. Not worth it!!
We started with the hummus. My wife thought it was pretty good, my vote was meh. Before we were half way through the hummus, they brought our salads to the table. What was the rush?? The table is small and already crowded. Why bring one course on top of the last? The server told us they bring the food out as it is ready. Really? Makes you feel rushed. An OK policy for Dennys, shouldn't be for a high end restaurant. And the restaurant was less than half full. No need to push us out that fast. My wife had the Greek Salad and thought it was good. I had a chopped salad. Meh at best. Left over a good part of it. Next we had the chicken kabob. The chicken was moist, but bland. It was OK, but nothing special. Next we shared the "giant" shrimp in garlic sauce. Yes, "giant" shrimp is an oxymoron. But this really wasn't since these were the smallest "giant" shrimp I have ever been served. Their consistency wasn't good, they were chewy, and the garlic sauce was bland. We left over half. Finally came the mushroom flat bread. This was the highlight of the meal. It was above average. Not good, but a little better than OK. Considering the price, not a good value.
The service was fair. It's hard to feel good about the service when you feel the food is being rushed. The manager did come by to find out how we liked the meal. When I told him, he offered to comp a dessert and coffee. We took a pass. I just wanted to go home.
I won't be back.
