  • I debated giving this place 3 or 4 stars. I went with four because the people were very friendly, but it could have easily gone the other way. I ate at Ginza twice in one day, once alone at lunch and again with someone else during the late night 'happy hour'. If I would have just had lunch it would be four stars, if just happy hour three, or maybe even two. First, the quality of the sushi is decent. Not amazing, not bad, just down the middle. Some pieces taste fresher than others. I didnt have a few pieces that seemed a bit dry on the edges which isnt a good sign. For lunch I had a special that was fairly reasonable about $17 that included miso, salad, a sushi (both nigiri and sashimi). Everything was fine and I believe fairly priced. The people were friendly. The atmosphere was a bit odd with R&B club music playing a bit loudly, but whatever. Happy hour was a different story. I came back for happy hour because I had seen a sign on the door stating that everything was 50% off after 9pm (except AYCE and sashimi). When I got there I realized there is actually a small menu of happy hour items and those are the only things that were 50% off. None of these were particularly appealing to us, but we ordered some anyway. By memory some of the happy hour items included: california roll, cucumber roll, tuna roll and a slew of spicy rolls like salmon and tuna. Honestly I did wonder if there were so many spicy rolls because they were trying to use older fish and hide the taste with spicy sauce. Besides the spicy rolls there were only about four normal rolls that could be ordered for happy hour. The ones we ordered were again fine, not amazing, but we were turned off by what we saw as a sort of false advertising. In the end I think the quality of sushi here is fine, the service is very good, the people are friendly and the prices are reasonable. I would return if I were in a pinch, but Ill be looking for other sushi places.
