I moved here recently from Fairfax, Virginia where the local Ace Hardware was known for its outstanding customer service. I just assumed that I would experience the same level of customer service here in Scottsdale, but I was wrong. I have now been to this store about a dozen times and literally every time I observe or experience some type of customer service failure. A few weeks ago when I went, the girl at the cash register got a call in which she was asked about the store's hours and she gave the caller the wrong information. Today when I went I told them that the paint trays were all stacked in the wrong locations (thus making it confusing for customers to tell what the actual prices were) and they didn't seem to care. The employees seem to spend a lot more time yukking it up with each other and goofing off than helping customers. There is an old guy with a thick New York accent and he is great, but many of the others are awful, especially some of the younger staff members who really seem not to give a shit. My advice for management - take a trip to Fairfax City Virginia, study how they operate, and apply those lessons to this place.
