it seems that lately if you want to see a band of the up and coming nature, the house of blues is the venue that they will play at in cleveland. especially lately. for example, while flipping through stations aggravated the other day, i caught the "concert watch". every show they mentioned said "house of blues' as the location.
really? wtf. why is everyone getting booked at the house of blues?
it's not a horrible venue. it's got eclectic decor like the rest of the chain. but i have to say: any venue, no matter what the place, chain or otherwise, shouldn't get every.single.show. it's just not right. it's like the mcdonald's of concert venues.
the shows there aren't bad experiences. the sound is generally well balanced and the space itself is a good venue. i'm just a bit upset they seem to be monopolizing the scene.
that and their drinks are astronomically priced.
house of blues, i get the vibe you're bullying all the other cleveland venues. stop it. play nice. or we'll have to separate you.
though i'm still going to the shows, so who am i to say.
i can't give half stars, but i'd say this is a solid 3 1/2 stars. only cuz i'm scared they're bullying the other cleveland venues.
