| - I can't say enough good things about the Lakewood Garden Center. I have a black thumb, maybe even two black thumbs, and have attempted some small scale vegetable gardening at my apartment. They were able to point me in the right direction and had some solid advice. I really liked that they could recommend specific seeds for things they had grown and enjoyed. That level of knowledge is not something you're going to get at Home Depot. Plus, they've got a store cat. What's not to love?
I always support local businesses when I can and the fact that this place is so close to me is a bonus. While you may not be able to find exactly what you are looking for, they have an adequate selection. They seemed to be out of green bell peppers during my last visit, but hey, people buy things and they run out of stuff. I'll just have to go back!
It's good for the fall too. They have all sorts of crazy lookin gourds, squash and pumpkins to elevate your decorating to the next level. I bought a bunch for my non-functioning fireplace last year and during checkout they let me know which ones were good to eat too.
Parking can be scarce at peek times, but you can park in the adjacent side street if the lot is full. Don't forget, metered parking is free in Lakewood weekdays after 6, weekends, and holidays. Credit cards are accepted so fill up that Radio Flyer wagon!
