| - THIS IS A LONG REVIEW - but the most important thing to know is that under no circumstances should you trust this establishment with your dental care! STAY AWAY
I moved to Las Vegas a couple years ago and it took me a bit to find a job that offered decent dental insurance. One of my coworkers goes to Hi-Tech Dental so I knew they'd take my insurance. They're also a sedation dentistry which appealed to me because I am absolutely terrified of the dentist. I've only had a few cavities throughout my life and had my wisdom teeth removed, other than that I've never had any dental issues. I thought to myself that if I ever did need a root canal or had a really bad cavity, why not be sedated for it? It would save me lots of emotional stress.
I booked an appointment here on a Friday morning, they were offering coffee, cookies, and other snacks upon check in which I thought was a little counterproductive. I'm there to get my teeth cleaned and I thought it would be rude to go back for my cleaning with chocolate stuck in my teeth or coffee breath.
They took me back and asked me the normal questions. Why was I there today? When was my last appointment? Am I experiencing any specific issues? etc. I let them know I was only there for a cleaning and that I wasn't experiencing any issues other than jaw pain (most likely from grinding my teeth).
My dental hygienist was very nice, but that's the only good thing I have to say about this place. He took my X-Rays, did a quick oral exam, and said the dentist would be right back with my results. Keep in mind I had absolutely no tooth pain or any issues, I told them I was there for a regular cleaning only. The dentist came in, he didn't even introduce himself, and he proceeded to tell me that I have gum disease and would need a deep cleaning along with some extremely expensive antibiotic rinse that my insurance didn't cover, and that I had 7 cavities. I was FLOORED! I've never had more than two cavities in my life, and now I have 7? All on my upper teeth where I have no pain? What did they mean I had gum disease I've literally never had an issue with gums in my life. How did my teeth go from amazing to literally about to fall out in two years?
They sent in another associate to go over the pricing with me. They wanted a couple hundred dollars for the deep cleaning, the dentist said that if I didn't get the deep cleaning and only went with the regular cleaning that my gum disease would progress and I would lose my teeth. He also said if I didn't get the super expensive antibiotic rinse (it was like $600!) that my gum disease would progress, and again, I would lose my teeth. Then he didn't even look in my mouth at where the X-Rays said there were cavities to see if I actually had tooth decay.
I started crying in the chair, I'm 24 and I need to fork over almost a thousand dollars or I'm going to lose my teeth? I've never had dental issues before, why suddenly now am I experiencing these things? I let them bully me into the deep cleaning, but told them no on the rinse and the fillings because I couldn't afford it.
I'm pretty sure they were just trying to hustle money out of me, there's no way I have 7 cavities. I'm definitely getting a second opinion, if I do have that many cavities I'm going to get the work done elsewhere. I didn't appreciate the fact that they offered me absolutely no compassion or explanation of the procedures. My gums don't bleed when I floss or brush, yet somehow I have gum disease? They probably wanted me to sign off on all the dental work and push me toward sedation so they could make more money.
Again, my hygienist was very kind and that's the only reason I gave 2 stars. He could tell I was really upset before he started the deep cleaning and assured me that my teeth were okay. He was the only member of the staff that made me feel the least bit comfortable. While he was doing the cleaning, the owner (I think) came over all bubbly and asked which "service" I chose and went on and on about how it's like a bath for my mouth (yeah a several hundred dollar bath that I didn't want!). I was really offended because I felt hustled into the "service", I did not want a deep cleaning. I only chose it because the dentist scared me into it!
TL;DR - Don't come here, they only want your money, they'll try to sell you on a bunch of services you don't need. If you DO go here, get a second opinion before letting them do any kind of dental work on you.
UPDATE: on second thought, this place gets 1 star. The fact the owner takes no accountability for her horrid business practices in these reviews is appalling.
