I reluctantly dragged myself to this facility recently because I was experiencing unbearable pain in my lower back. After suffering for almost an entire week while waiting for my doctor and insurance company to wade through the red tape and nonsense involved in prescribing a controlled substance, I couldn't stand it anymore. I was hoping to at least get a shot of Toradol or some kind of anesthetic and a few Vicodin to tide me over until I could get the right meds. After explaining my situation to a nurse practitioner who was clearly way out of her depth, she returns to the examination room to tell me that there is nothing they can do for me, and that I should go to the emergency room. She then lied directly to my face, and told me that they are not permitted to prescribe controlled medications.
I will go out of my way to make sure my insurance company refuses any bill they submit. I spent the next half hour sobbing in my car from the pain. I am not all that surprised by this crap anymore. Walk into any clinic these days with back pain and you are immediately labeled a drug addict and treated like a criminal.
