  • Whaddup fam. I walked into this place in an Uptown Funk type of mood. A few coworkers and I had one of those Secret Santa shindigs and we had to come to a quorum on a place that could satisfy and satiate a diverse set of palates. So we settled on Pomo, and since it was a Friday night, we called ahead of time and had a table prepared for us. We entered that joint like Bruno Mars and his crew at the beginning of Uptown Funk - we were fly. I look back on it now, and I now realize in hindsight that I was unwittingly having my Last Supper moment with them. I ain't Jesus, nor were any of them endowed with otherworldly powers, but it was the last time we all broke bread together; and I am happy to say it was a delightfully memorable experience. Phoenix has Fired Pie, Dominoes, Little Caesar's, hell it has Digiorno if those commercials really hit a nerve and you actually wanna pass that off as delivery (Tombstone better IMO.) Pomo towers above those brands. I am a pretty simple guy so I always get pepperoni, but my bros and gals got dishes that completed the entire spectrum of colors that the human eye can comprehend. My pizza was stellar. So stellar that I was thinking about eating half there and saving the rest for the weekend. Note I went there on a Friday. That pizza is so good you wanna divvy up the rest of it for a fun weekend. It could be a "hey I've known you for three years and just asked you on a date food," or it's 3am and my head feels like Alan's after he got hit by Tyson in the Hangover. As far as I know, my crew shared similar sentiments. Now on to cost. When you are getting high-end stuff, you pay a bit more. So make sure you are ready to take hammer to your poor piggy bank. Also, topic switch, the general mood. The place is chill. It's the Jason Bourne of restaurants. From the staff to the chairs it's calm, collected, and cordial. This all coalesces in a way to ensure you're able to have a good time with the right people. It's also quite close to De Soto and the rest of downtown, so it's in good walking distance if this is the first stop before many. There was one drawback. One drawback which took away that 5 star spot. The bread. Fam, I've been to Red Lobster and have had 3 servings of those cheddar biscuits and have tried to get out of paying the bill. I mean damn, I've been to a Chinese restaurant that was once an Opera theatre that served baller bread. Oddly though, the bread here doesn't cause one to salivate. I don't know all the facts behind this bread. Maybe an investigation by the F.B.I. needs to be launched to deduce why the bread here doesn't compare to lesser establishments. But everything considered, Pomo is dope AF. I got to have one last hoorah with a group of people that I have ended up cherishing like Jesus cherished his disciples. Pomo is only 4 stars for me because I am really picky about bread - I own that pickiness. But for most it will likely be 5 stars. Don't waste your time with pizza that shames the name. Get down to Pomo and chow down.
