  • Shula's was an almost five star place. With the exception of the scallops, everyone really loved the food. All the sides were excellent. We had six people, four steaks, crab cakes and scallops. The ambience was warm and romantic. The service was four star. Just short of excellent. The less than five stars is for little things. The meal was over 600$. To be expected. BUT.... when you're spending that kind of money on a meal it's really the details that make the difference. Details like... I asked if they could take our coats. we were in a long awkward booth with no room between us at all. The waiter said "we don't have anywhere to put them". Huh? We're in one of the highest end restaurants in the area and you're just going to say "no" to taking coats? Find somewhere. We had my 85 year old disabled father in law with us. The table had a big step up and was terribly awkward for him. I'd asked prior to being seated if they could better accommodate and was told "that's all we have". Huh? Figure it out. He's elderly and disabled and we're about to pay a huge bill in your place. I saw tables they could have put together that would have been accommodating. Last but not least. While the scallops tasted delicious (I ate one before almost breaking teeth on the sand) they were to sandy to eat. The waiter said "I'm sorry" and that's it. No offer of a desert, no taking it off the menu. No manager came by to say "hey can we do something different". Just... "we cooked an inedible meal, oh well". I'd give it 3 stars for lack of accommodation in a super pricey place, but the majority of the meals were to good for that.
