We decided to check out the new Parnell's - living on a road of the same name in Shaker Heights we have a connection here. Upon entering immediately feel that this is a much different Parnell's - everything is new "old" vintage light bulbs and fixtures, semi-polished concrete floors, it's new/modern/old. Perfect hipster millennial decor, that will also suit old timers. It seems to be missing the beautiful old bar from the Lee road location - if that bar could talk I could only imagine the stories it could tell. I was a frequent customer at the old location when I first moved to Cleveland Heights about 12 years ago - I understand the changing business climate and why sometimes you must reinvent yourself, and I give a lot of credit to the owners of this establishment for opening this new location.
We ordered some cocktails - I had a Manhattan, my girlfriend and one of our dear friends had a John Collins, and our other dear friend had a Guinness. All were excellent. We sat in the cozy front window seat - which had a view of the bustling bar and the busy Cedar Fairmount District.
The service was traditional pub - you might need flag down bartender, but that is to be expected - this is a pub. Drinks were good, priced reasonably but not cheap. Crowd was a mix of all ages. Will definitely return.
