| - Let me start off by saying that I'm actually shocked at the Canadian National Exhibition only baring a 3 1/2 star rating. Coming from someone who grew up attending the Big E (New England's Largest Fair) and traveling to a good amount, this fair is massive and even surpasses the Big E in my book. When you first enter the Ex, you are surrounded by tasty and exotic treats from pretty much everywhere, a plethora of amusement park rides, and enough buildings to explore that you could probably spend a day and a half here and still not know for sure if you saw everything. I came here on Friday and ended up spending about 6 hours walking around. My favourite parts of the fair include:
- Large variety of Toronto's favourite sweets like Sweet Jesus and Eva's Original Chimneys
- 30 minute dog show from the Presidents Choice Super Dogs
- Endless supply of fun foods like pizza cones, spaghetti balls, donuts filled with ice cream, tons of food trucks, and 300 other things I can't even remember.
- Multiple buildings full of shopping, arts and crafts, and live music.
- Gaming center where you can pick up video game memorabilia, play the Nintendo Switch, DDR, or even get on some computers.
My only real negative for the fair was that I decide to go with a pizza cone early on in the day and let me tell you, it sucked. I've had pizza cones in the past but this one pretty much tasted like someone put a hot pocked in the microwave, cut it open, and poured it in a cone.
On top of the things listed above, you have plenty of animals in one of the buildings like cows, horses, pigs, llamas, and sheep. These guys all look super cozy and aren't just there for show, but they all come with a ton of information so you can learn about them at the same time (you can even watch the cows get milked).
Overall, this was such a blast exploring the CNE and I can't wait to come back next year. The only issue is there is just not enough time to eat all of the foods you want in a single day, what a shame!
